DEDICATED TO REDUCING PLASTIC WASTE
Our vision: A community that understands the need and acts to eliminate the negative impacts of plastic waste, especially single-use plastics, on the environment and human health.
We are dedicated to the 4-Rs:
Refuse, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle – in that order.
Tips
We encourage individual behavior change to reduce the use of plastic in our daily lives, yet systemic change is necessary to effectively address the problem. Click below for ideas about reducing plastic in our daily lives.
Education
We provide educational seminars to community groups, to educate county residents about the harm caused by Single Use Plastics (SUPs) and the myriad alternative consumer products that are available to them. Click below to find out more and schedule a presentation.
Advocacy
We support legislative and policy actions; work with establishments to reduce plastic packaging and single-use plastics; and engage with like-minded groups and communities to find and implement solutions.
We applaud the Montgomery County Council for passing the Bring Your Own Bag Bill which goes into effect January 1, 2026, but much work remains to be done. Grocery stores, restaurants, schools, gardening stores, communal settings and more have a role to play in reducing single-use plastics in Montgomery County.
